Two persons were reportedly killed while one was seriously injured by suspected herdsmen in Div, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue state. Concise News reports.
The Senior Special Assistant to the state governor on New Media and an indigene of the area, Solomon Amande said the incidents happens, when the herdsmen allegedly working with Jukun youths invaded the hut.
Amande said, “The three victims are Igenkor Ashongo, Tyover Yatse and Terver Ordiwer. They were in their hut eating and resting when the herdsmen, who are allegedly working with Jukun youths, sneaked in and opened fire on them.
“Terver Ordiwer was hit on his leg, he fell and pretended to have died, the other two ran for their lives but the armed men chased them into the bush and slaughtered them after which they beat a retreat.
“When our people got wind of the development and mobilised to the area, Terver was discovered alive and taken to hospital but the other two were killed in cold blood by the marauders, it is indeed saddening and condemnable.”
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene said, the killings in Kwande, had been reported and an investigation was ongoing.
