2. Cameroonian Victim Flees Suspected Kidnappers in Osogbo, Reports Case to Amotekun

A 28-year-old Cameroonian, Ondigui Nnomo Germain, was on Tuesday found in Osogbo, Osun State, after fleeing from individuals he believed intended to harm him.

Germain ran into the headquarters of the Osun Amotekun Corps in the Powerline area of the state capital around 11 a.m., seeking protection from his pursuers.

He revealed to personnel of the security agency that he had been brought to Nigeria from the Ahala Barriere area of Yaoundé by a Nigerian man who promised to secure him a job.

Germain said he sold some of his belongings to raise money for the journey after the man insisted he needed to contribute financially before traveling.

According to him, “Suspicion began to grow after the man who brought me, along with some associates, visited me at a hotel along the Osogbo/Ikirun Road on Monday.”

He said he became alarmed when he noticed unusual behavior and sensed that the job offer presented to him may not have been genuine.

“When I observed that the man who brought me had guys everywhere on the road, even at the border, I became afraid,” he said.

Germain explained that he was taken to a hotel room where several men attempted to convince him about the purported job.

“I noticed it was like a voodoo circle; they all had rings except the man who brought me,” he added.

Realizing the danger, he said he quietly slipped out of the hotel, but the men pursued him in a vehicle as he fled through the streets of Osogbo.

After escaping, Germain spent the night in an abandoned building before finding his way to the gate of the Amotekun office in the early hours of Tuesday.

Speaking through a mobile phone language translator, he said, “I sold my belongings and gave him the money he demanded. We got to Nigeria three days ago. When they took me for the interview, I saw many people in the room and suspected something was wrong.”

Germain told Amotekun officers that his greatest desire was to return safely to Cameroon.

“If you can even accompany me to the border via Buea because I noticed they have guys along the road, I will get to Cameroon. I fear that I am not safe again,” he said.

Responding to the development, the Osun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, advised that the matter be lodged at the nearest police station.

DAILY POST gathered that Amotekun personnel escorted Germain to the Obelawo Police Post, where he formally reported his ordeal to law enforcement authorities.
