The chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu on Tuesday, September 13, made a bold move a few days after he secured the votes of the PDP NEC. The camp of Wike has been against the administration of the PDP chairman since the end of the PDP presidential primary election.
Wike had claimed that the chairman made some promises to members of the PDP if a northerner emerges as the presidential candidate of the party. He insisted that the chairman must step down as he once said that he would leave his position should a Northener become a PDP candidate.
After the emergence of Atiku Abubakar in the recently conducted presidential primary election of the PDP, the camp of Wike has continued to make statements and insist that the promises made by the chairman must be done. Meanwhile, the PDP chairman has made it clear to members of the PDP that he would not leave his position as the head of the PDP.
Ayu revealed that he has not violated the PDP constitution and also, he has not used the PDP office for private gain. After the statement of Ayu, the PDP reportedly had a meeting where issues in the party were tabled before PDP NEC.
The chairman of the PDP board of trustees tendered his resignation letter in other for a politician from the southeast to take over as the PDP BoT chairman but his camp of Wike had insisted that it would not accept this.
