A group in the southeast on Friday sent a message to the leadership of the PDP regarding what might happen in the forthcoming presidential election if the chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu does not resign before the 2023 presidential election.
The group identified as SERG insists that it is the turn of the people in the southeast to take charge of the leadership of the PDP and due to this, the chairman should leave office in other for a politician from another region, specifically, the southeast to become the new chairman of the PDP.
The statement was made on Friday, barely 24 hours after members of the PDP NEC voted in support of the administration of Iyorchia Ayu. Details claimed that many members of the PDP national executive council gathered in Abuja on Thursday to meet regarding the crisis rocking the PDP.
At the meeting, a vote of confidence was passed on the administration of Iyorchia Ayu but despite this, the governor of Rivers state has insisted that Ayu must go. Also, the report added that there was a protest at the PDP national headquarters in Abuja on Thursday by members of the party who wants Ayu to resign.
According to a report from Naija News, a group in the southeast identified as SERG made a statement on Friday, September 9, regarding what the PDP and its national chairman must do ahead of the 2023 poll.
