7 Doors, Lisabi (The Uprising) Triumph At AMVCA 2025

Seven Doors, a Nigerian historical drama series co-directed by Femi Adebayo, Adebayo Tijani, and Tope Adebayo, emerged a major winner at the 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (#AMVCA11), held on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

The series followed the story of King Adedunjoye, a reluctant monarch whose reign is plagued by a generational curse. To lift it, he must marry six more wives, opening “seven doors” despite his deep love for his first wife, Amaka. Seven Doors explores themes of tradition, sacrifice, and destiny with gripping storytelling and powerful performances.

At the star-studded ceremony, Seven Doors clinched multiple awards, including Best Lead Actor and Best Lead Actress, solidifying its place as one of the standout productions of the year under review.

In addition to the drama’s success, the night also honoured veteran actors Sani Mu’azu and Nkem Owoh with ‘Lifetime Achievement’ Awards for their invaluable contributions to the African film industry. Director Kayode Kasum received the Trailblazer Award for his genre-defying work and bold cinematic vision.

As the evening unfolded, other winners were announced across diverse categories, celebrating the depth of talent, creativity, and storytelling within African cinema.

Notably, Lateef Adedimeji’s biopic Lisabi (The Uprising) also swept multiple awards, further underscoring its cultural impact and popularity this year.
