A serious accident happened on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway on Friday night close to Sawmill Bus Stop in the Ibereko area.
A commercial Volkswagen bus and a Toyota Camry car collided around 11:10 p.m., leaving seven people with different levels of injuries.
Mr. William Manga, the Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Badagry, confirmed the incident.
He reported that emergency teams arrived at the scene within minutes after being alerted. The injured individuals were promptly taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The FRSC is currently investigating the cause of the accident. Mr. Manga urged all drivers to be extra careful, follow traffic rules, and avoid speeding, especially at night, to prevent such unfortunate events.
“Our personnel were alerted about the accident at about 11:15 p.m. and got to the scene at 11:22 p.m., seven minutes after they were alerted.
“The accident involved two vehicles,” he said.
He explained that a V-waggon commercial bus with registration number AGL 867 YA coming from Badagry lost control while making a U-turn, leading to a head-on collision with a Toyota Camry car bus with number plate KRD 232 HD coming from Mile 2.
“24 persons were involved in the accident, with four men and three women sustaining varying degrees of injury,” he said.
The FRSC commander added that the injured persons were taken to Care General Hospital in Badagry for treatment.
Manga said that the accident was due to dangerous driving.
He said the two vehicles involved in the accident had been taken to Mowo Police Station in Badagry.
Manga advised drivers to avoid speeding and overloading and always adhere to traffic rules and regulations. (NAN)
