BREAKING: Police Arrest Two Over Alleged Killing Of Driver In Ogun

The Ogun State command of the Nigeria Police Force has apprehended two individuals believed to be involved in the death of a motor driver in Abeokuta, the capital of the state, following an altercation.

Their arrest was confirmed in a statement issued over the weekend in Abeokuta by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola.

“On December 13, 2024, at approximately 3:00 AM, Alao Fadipe, a resident of Iyana Ikereku, reported that he observed a confrontation occurring near the roadside in front of his residence around 2:00 AM.

“Upon arriving at the scene, he observed Olalere Timileyin, a truck driver, and his motor-boy, both associated with Larfage Cement Itori Ewekoro, physically assaulting a man whom they accused of stealing their tarpaulin until he lost consciousness.

“Acting on the complaint, detectives from Obada Oko responded and arrested the driver and his motor boy at the location. the injured man was promptly taken to State Hospital Ijaye for medical care but sadly passed away during treatment,” the statement noted.

She said that the body of the deceased had been sent to the morgue for an autopsy.

“The suspects are currently being interrogated, and efforts are underway to reach the deceased’s family.

“The case will be forwarded to State Criminal Investigation Department Eleweran for further investigation,” Fadipe noted.
