Former presidential aspirant, Kingsley Moghalu, has described his decision to quit Nigerian politics as the best choice he has ever made.
Naija News recalls that Moghalu left his academic position in 2018 to contest the 2019 presidential election.
The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) also attempted another bid in 2023 but withdrew after what he described as betrayal by political operatives on an alternative platform.
In a post via his handle, Moghalu said he ended his brief foray into politics, returned to his international professional life, and has been happy since making that decision.
He also stressed that he sacrificed time, health, family resources, and earnings from honest labour during his political pursuits.
He said, “I decided it wasn’t worth the bother for someone who does not need the Nigerian ‘system’ to feed, and whose contributions are demanded and appreciated well elsewhere.
“So I ended my brief foray into politics and returned to international professional life. Best decision I ever made. Life since has been quiet, happy, and fulfilling.”
Meanwhile, Moghalu recently shared his thoughts on the ongoing prosecution of former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.
In a statement on his account, Moghalu said that Malami’s Tuesday arraignment, alongside his son and wife, on 16 counts of alleged money laundering involving billions of naira, shows the fleeting nature of power in Nigeria.
