BREAKING: “A party on life support”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa has slammed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for criticising President Bola Tinubu’s planned visit to the state, describing the opposition as “a party on life support”.

The PDP had alleged that most of the projects lined up for commissioning during Tinubu’s visit in May 2025 were either unfinished, previously inaugurated under former president Muhammadu Buhari, or merely repainted to appear new.

In a statement on Tuesday, Douglas Otaru, publicity secretary of the APC in the state, accused the PDP of peddling “blatant falsehood” and “malicious propaganda”.

“It’s ironic that a party embroiled in various troubles and litigation would attempt to question the integrity of the legacy projects duly executed by the hardworking administration of His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule,” Otaru said.

He described the PDP as “a party on life support”, saying it was resorting to lies to remain relevant.

“The ghosts of your sins will continue to haunt you,” he said.

“Until you repent for your misdeeds during the 2023 elections, you will remain a party adrift.”

Otaru insisted that the projects slated for commissioning are “real and tangible evidence of the government’s commitment to improving the lives of Nasarawa residents”.

“We urge the public to disregard the PDP’s falsehood and malicious claims,” he said.

Earlier, Adamu Bako, PDP chairman in Nasarawa, through his press secretary, Jonathan Ipaa, had claimed that the state government was trying to mislead Tinubu into commissioning incomplete and refurbished projects.

“They are inviting the president to come and commission an uncompleted underpass bridge in Lafia, the 5km Shendam road and mass transit buses former president Buhari had commissioned before,” the PDP said.

The statement also alleged that some of the vehicles touted as new arrivals from China were being repainted at a warehouse in Abuja.
“What happened under Buhari might happen under the Tinubu era,” the PDP said.

“The mass transit buses were commissioned only to disappear hours thereafter, never to be seen till date.”

Otaru dismissed the allegations as “utterly ridiculous”, insisting the APC-led government in Nasarawa remains focused on delivering “results-driven governance”.

“We will not let baseless propaganda distract us from our mission of building a better Nasarawa state,” he said.

President Tinubu is expected to visit the state in May as part of activities marking his second anniversary in office.

Projects to be commissioned include a newly completed secretariat complex equipped with modern facilities.
