BREAKING: MAAUN Orders Students To Vacate Private Female Hostel

8

Authorities of the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano has directed all its female students residing in two privately-managed hostels to vacate the premises without delay.

The University cited safety concerns and violations of institutional standards as the reasons for the directive.

The University said the affected hostel, Al-Ansar Indabo Female Students Hostels located at Hotoro and UDB Road, was stripped of its approval over repeated incidents that allegedly compromised students’ welfare and violated its code of conduct.

MAAUN, in a statement signed by the Vice President of Campus Life, Dr. Hamza Garba, emphasised the school’s commitment to providing students with safe, morally upright, and well-regulated living environments.

“The university has formally revoked approval for the Al-Ansar Indabo Female Hostels due to persistent disregard for operational regulations,” the statement noted.

Garba revealed that reports from the affected hostels indicated cases of inappropriate behavior, unreliable electricity and water supply, late-night movements without authorisation, violent altercations, and cohabitation with unidentified individuals—all of which were deemed unacceptable by the University.

He added that these situations not only undermine MAAUN’s values, but posed serious risks to the lives and safety of our students.

Students currently residing in the hostels have been instructed to leave immediately after their fall semester examinations.

The management further warned that it will not be liable for any incident should students choose to remain in the non-compliant hostels.
As part of enforcement measures, the University said it was collaborating with security agencies to ensure strict adherence to the evacuation directive.
