President Bola Tinubu on Sunday received the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Naija News reports that the meeting took place days after the Sultan was absent from the President’s interfaith Iftar dinner with religious and traditional leaders held on March 9.
At the interfaith Iftar event, the Sultan was represented by the Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, who stood in for both the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the Sultan.

The meeting between Tinubu and the Sultan also comes barely five days before the end of the Ramadan fasting period.
Photos released by the State House media office on Sunday showed the President and the Sultan exchanging pleasantries during what appeared to be a private audience.
The Sultan, who is the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, has maintained close consultations with the President on national matters.
Since the beginning of the Ramadan fasting period, Tinubu has hosted several Iftar dinners at the Presidential Villa.
The gatherings have included governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives, security chiefs and leaders of political parties.
During the March 9 interfaith Iftar, which brought together Muslim and Christian leaders as well as traditional rulers from the six geopolitical zones, Tinubu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling insecurity.
“Our unity is unshakable,” the President declared during the event.
The dinner was attended by the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, who was represented by the President of the Evangelical Church Winning All, Dr Stephen Baba-Panya.
