BREAKING: Former NNPC Chiefs Confirm Port Harcourt Refinery Is Working

Former Group Managing Directors (GMDs) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) have praised the current management team, led by Mr. Mele Kyari, for the impressive rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt Refinery.

After an on-site inspection of the facility, they described the transformation as massive.

The former GMDs were in Port Harcourt for their regular Former NNPC GCEOs Forum and took the opportunity on Wednesday to tour the refinery and assess its progress.

Among the visiting former leaders were Dr. Jackson Gaius-Obaseki, Chamberlain Oyibo, Funsho Kupolokun, and Andrew Yakubu.

Speaking, Chamberlain Oyibo said Nigerians want the products from the refinery to be at the market. He advised NNPCL to fasten the process.

“I want to congratulate you for this massive renovation. It is virtually a new refinery. The onus is on you to run it efficiently. Nigerians want our products in the market. That is when they know you have arrived,” he said.

On his part, Andrew Yakubu said the refinery is working. He said the argument on whether the refinery was working or not was why he joined the entourage to confirm.

“I was interested in seeing it, Refining process has taken place. Petrol products have been lined up to the tanks. I touched them, I smelt these products and they are real. The GCEO has also assured us that efforts are underway to bring Warri refinery and Kaduna refinery,” he stated.

They commended the bold steps taken by the current management team to modernize a plant originally built in 1965, emphasizing the scale and impact of the achievement.
