BREAKING: Dogara, Bauchi Legislators Applaud Tinubu’s Commitment To Kolmani Oil Resumption

The Bauchi Legacy Legislators (BLL), a prominent socio-economic and political interest group, have commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for fulfilling its campaign promise to sustain and advance operations at the Kolmani Oil field and other resource frontiers across Northern Nigeria.

The group in a press release issued by its leader, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, and made available to journalists in Bauchi yesterday, urged the Tinubu-led federal government to ensure the full exploitation of the Kolmani Oil and Gas reserves.

This commendation follows a recent interview with Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, who revealed that activities at the Kolmani oil wells would soon resume in full force.

The forum emphasised that the benefits would significantly impact local communities, Bauchi State, the North-East region, and the nation at large.

Recall that in February 2025, during the commissioning of a constituency project by Senator Shehu Buba in Toro local government area of Bauchi State, Hon. Dogara had earlier called on the federal government to prioritise the resumption of operations at Kolmani.

Also, Dogara, a former speaker of the House of Representatives, reiterated the call for the construction of the Kafin Zaki and Zungur/Bagel dams, citing their potential to generate employment, boost agricultural productivity, and contribute hundreds of megawatts to the national power grid.

The BLL also advocated for the swift implementation of the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe–Yola highway project and other developmental initiatives under the current administration.

According to the group, the successful execution of these key projects would solidify public support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, should he choose to contest, especially across Bauchi State and the entire North-East geopolitical zone.

LEADERSHIP reports that on Saturday Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, performed the official ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the permanent site of the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy, Alkaleri, in Bauchi State. The project is valued at over N6.7 billion.

The minister highlighted the importance of institutions like the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy in training skilled manpower to sustain and expand Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

He also pledged continued federal support for the Kolmani Oil Field and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to Bauchi’s emergence as a major player in the sector.
