BREAKING: Court Grants Dele Farotimi N30m Bail

Human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi has been granted bail in the sum of ₦30 million by a Magistrate’s Court in Ekiti State.

Farotimi, who had been held at a correctional centre in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, arrived at the court premises on Friday morning at approximately 9:45 am. He was transported in a prison van, flanked by a police escort.

As he emerged from the van, the supportive crowd gathered outside the court erupted in cheers, their enthusiasm palpable. Farotimi raised his hands in appreciation, visibly moved by their solidarity.

While the specifics of his bail conditions were outlined during the court session, neither his legal team nor court officials provided further comments at the time of this report.

The case has sparked considerable public interest, with numerous human rights organisations closely monitoring the proceedings. Farotimi faces charges of allegedly defaming the renowned legal luminary, Chief Afe Babalola, in his book titled ‘Nigeria and its Corrupt Justice System’.
