Breaking: Nasarawa Unveils N16bn Lafia Flyover—Ready for Tinubu’s Grand Commissioning!

The Nasarawa state government has announced the completion of the over N16bn Lafia Flyover and Underpass initiated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

Governor Abdullahi Sule opened up the road for use along some key stakeholders from the state on Monday ahead of formal commissioning by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In April, the governor revealed that the flyover and underpass were among the projects the president was slated to commission.

“We have written a letter to invite President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to come and commission some projects in the state as part of activities marking two years in the President’s office. All the states and the Federal Government, in particular, look forward to commissioning projects to celebrate the two years of Mr President in office.

“On our part, we have written to invite the President to come and commission our brand-new secretariat, the flyover and underpass in Lafia, as well as the completed dualisation of the 5km Shendam Road,” he had stated.

He said on Monday that the flyover and underpass projects are technically completed and ready for use.

“The underpass and flyover in Lafia were technically completed yesterday. What I mean by technically is that it is ready and we can use it right now,” he said.

He explained that, before the president’s scheduled project commissioning, it had become necessary to open the traffic road to test-run it.

“We want to open it to use it extensively before commissioning. The reason is to see if there are cracks or other things on the road, between now and the next two or three weeks before the commissioning. We are hoping Mr President will come in June to commission it.

“If we now have any defect, then we will have the opportunity to close down the road and put the last layer on top of the road. Even if there is no defect, we will still go ahead and close the road for about a week, have the last layer, and draw the road signs.

“There are going to be additional works, but on the walls. That can be done while the road is in use. The roundabout under the flyover going to the palace can also be done while the road is being used,” he said.
