BREAKING: Mbah Inaugurates Oranto International Airport Hotel, As Billionaire Owner, Arthur Eze Recounts Enugu Governor’s Role

At the weekend, Governor Mbah inaugurated the hotel in Enugu, highlighting its alignment with his administration’s vision to establish the state as a leading destination for business, investment, tourism, and residential living.

During the event, Prince Arthur Eze, the chairman of Oranto, expressed his gratitude to Governor Mbah. He shared the numerous setbacks and frustrations he encountered during the project, crediting the governor’s visible infrastructural transformation of Enugu City and subtle encouragement for motivating him to finish the hotel promptly.

In his inauguration speech, Mbah praised Prince Eze for heeding his request for the hotel’s swift completion, emphasising its critical role in the government’s impending launch of Enugu Air and the operationalisation of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, which aims to boost annual visitors to the state by 3 million.

“This event transcends the mere act of cutting a ribbon. It signifies a step closer to our ambition of making Enugu State the premier destination for investment, business, tourism, and living,” Mbah declared.

He further remarked, “We have repeatedly discussed the importance of operationalising our International Airport. In a few days, we will launch Enugu Air.

“What we envision for Enugu Air extends beyond merely operating flights between Enugu and Lagos. Our goal is to establish this airport as a hub. A hub necessitates an international hotel nearby, as passengers travelling to other destinations will need a place to stop over.”

Mbah reiterated his aspiration for Enugu to welcome a minimum of 3 million visitors annually, stating, “Thus, a hotel of this calibre is integral to our vision. I would like to pay tribute to my elder brother and friend, Prince Arthur Eze, for making this a reality.”

In his remarks, Prince Eze acknowledged the pressure he faced from those whom he had financed for the project, who had let him down. He recounted, “Earlier this year, the governor called me, urging, ‘Please sir, I want you to commission the Oranto International Airport Hotel. Do not delay or worry about funding. If you need money, I can provide it. We must complete this, as it is vital for making Enugu airport an international hub.’

“There was another moment when he insisted, ‘Do not worry about finances; I will cover the costs to finish it.’ That changed my perspective. I resolved to work tirelessly, and today, the hotel stands ready for commissioning as the governor requested. I can only offer my gratitude to God and to you for your support.

“Truly, God sent you to transform the narrative of our people. Since your arrival, Enugu has blossomed into the heartland of Igbo land and all of Eastern Nigeria. Your influence is evident everywhere, from the airport to the International Conference Centre, Presidential Hotel, and beyond. Projects and developments that had been neglected for many years are now revitalised. All of this has unfolded in just over a year.”
