BREAKING: “They’re wasting their time” – Rivers APC chairman reacts to court rulings on party’s crisis

Tony Okocha, the chairman of the Rivers State faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has reacted to recent court rulings challenging the legitimacy of his faction’s executive committee.

Okocha, speaking during a birthday celebration with widows on Sunday, December 22, 2024, dismissed the court actions as a waste of time and emphasized the supremacy of the party over legal challenges.

In his remarks, Okocha reiterated that the APC, under his leadership, would continue its operations despite the legal obstacles.

He dismissed a court order from Port Harcourt High Court Justice Godwin Obomanu, which nullified the executive committee of the faction, accusing Governor Sim Fubara of orchestrating the court ruling to undermine his leadership.

“Let them do what they want. I will not run away from Nigeria. The Supreme Court has already ruled that internal party matters are for the party itself, not the courts,” Okocha said.

He further warned party members seeking court injunctions against the APC, stating, “If the kitchen is too hot for you, get out.”

Okocha emphasized that the APC’s focus remains on delivering palliative support to local communities, including the distribution of 23,000 bags of rice across various wards and local councils.
