BREAKING: No Going Back on Tax Reforms— Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has firmly declared that his administration’s tax reforms are here to stay.

He made this assertion during the presidential media chat aired by NTA on Monday night.

The tax reform bills currently before the National Assembly have sparked controversy and faced strong resistance, particularly from Northern leaders, prompting lawmakers to seek consultations.

Despite this, Tinubu stated that while not everyone may accept the reforms, they are irreversible.

He remarked, “The tax reform is here to stay. It is pro-poor and aims to broaden the tax base, allowing more people to contribute.”

He emphasised, “The hallmark of a good leader is the ability to do what is necessary when it is needed.”

In light of the growing opposition from some governors and senators, the President expressed his willingness to engage in discussions on the matter.

“Tax issues are open to debate and negotiation. I am not opposed to making adjustments. I will,” he added.
