Apostle Abel Damina, a Nigerian cleric, has sparked controversy with his recent comments regarding the biblical story of Adam and Eve.
In a sermon, Damina argued that the widely accepted belief that the first couple ate forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden is not supported by direct evidence. He questioned how anyone could be certain of the events, saying, “Adam and Eve ate nothing. They didn’t eat anything. Were you there? You were not there. So how do we know whether they ate anything?”
The preacher also suggested that Jesus, as the ultimate authority, provided a clearer understanding of what transpired in Eden. He further stated that if Adam and Eve had eaten something, it would not have made them sinners, asserting that sin does not come from consuming food or drink.
Damina also took the opportunity to challenge moral judgments associated with lifestyle choices, including alcohol and smoking. He stated, “I have told you alcohol is not a sin.
I have said cigar is not a sin. Am I saying you should smoke? You should have sense from your father’s house to know that cigar will cut your life.” His remarks have stirred considerable debate and raised questions about his interpretation of biblical teachings.
