The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded strong performances in some early polling-unit results from the ongoing Osun State governorship election, according to updates released by the APC Social Media and Situation Room team.
Results displayed from three polling locations across Oriade, Ife South and Ife North Local Government Areas showed a competitive contest between the APC and the Accord Party, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) recorded significantly lower figures in the sampled polling units.
At St Stephen Anglican Primary School, Omo Ijesa, in Oriade LGA, the APC candidate was credited with 51 votes, while the Accord candidate secured 113 votes. The ADC candidate recorded one vote.
In Ife South LGA, at an open space around Mojimorire Junction, Olode Market polling unit, the APC was credited with 176 votes, against 151 votes for Accord, while ADC recorded four votes.
Another result from Ife North LGA, at an open space at Lane 5, Ipetumodu polling unit, showed the APC with 38 votes, while Accord polled 55 votes and ADC secured one vote.
Across the three displayed polling-unit results, the APC recorded a combined 265 votes, while Accord had 319 votes, with ADC scoring six votes.
The figures, however, represent only a small number of polling units and cannot be used to determine the overall winner of the governorship election.
The updates were attributed to the APC Social Media and Situation Room Team, meaning the figures should be treated as party-released results pending verification through the official collation process.
The election has witnessed significant voter participation across the state, with the major political parties battling for control of Osun.
As results continue to emerge from polling units and collation centres, attention remains focused on whether the early figures will translate into a broader advantage for either the APC, Accord or other major contenders.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) remains responsible for the official verification, collation and declaration of the final result.
More results are expected as counting and collation continue across the 30 local government areas of Osun State.
