BREAKING: EPL: Everton Sacks Coach Sean Dyche

Everton have confirmed the dismissal of manager Sean Dyche just hours before their FA Cup third-round clash with Peterborough.

Dyche, who took charge in January 2023, oversaw only three wins from 19 matches this season and departs with Everton sitting just one point above the relegation zone.

He recently admitted that results had not met expectations and acknowledged that his position was rightly under threat.

“To be clear, it should be,” he stated. “At the end of the day, for a business of this size and stature, a succession plan should undoubtedly be part of their strategy.

“You must win matches; we haven’t won enough this season. The team needs to function effectively, and you must strive to satisfy everyone, all of the time. That’s the job, and we haven’t accomplished that often enough, and that falls on me, without any doubt.”

Dyche leaves alongside his coaching staff: Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard, and Billy Mercer.

Everton have commenced the search for a new manager, but in the interim, first-team responsibilities will be entrusted to Under-18 manager Leighton Baines and club captain Seamus Coleman, who will lead the Toffees in Thursday’s FA Cup match against Peterborough.
