President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has restructured the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) in Zaria, Kaduna State, into six regional campuses in an attempt to improve efficiency, ensure broader nationwide coverage, and enhance operational effectiveness. The Nation reports that the statement was made on Wednesday through the All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Ondo State’s official X account.
The statement read: “President Bola Tinubu has decided to split the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria–Kaduna State, into six campuses to ensure efficiency, national coverage, and smooth operations.”
The six campuses will be strategically located across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, ensuring equitable access to aviation training facilities nationwide.
The proposed locations include:
Akure (Southwest)
Osubi (South-South)
Ebonyi (Southeast)
Ilorin (North Central)
Yola (Northeast)
Zaria (Northwest)
This decision comes as part of President Tinubu’s broader vision to decentralize key federal institutions, improve infrastructure, and foster economic development across the regions.
The move is expected to expand access to aviation education and technical training, reduce congestion at the main campus in Zaria, and provide specialized training in aviation-related fields across the regions.
Industry stakeholders have hailed the decision, describing it as a transformational step for Nigeria’s aviation sector.
Aviation experts believe that the new campuses will not only cater to the rising demand for skilled aviation professionals but also boost local economies in the host states.
The President emphasized that the campuses would offer world-class training programs and align with global aviation standards, positioning Nigeria as a regional hub for aviation training and innovation.
More details on the timeline for the establishment and commencement of these campuses are expected in the coming weeks.
