The Nigerian Forest Security Service (NFSS) has said that it is willing to work with Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’ s administration to protect the forests in Anambra State, which is thought to be a haven for kidnappers and murderers of defenseless civilians.
This comes after a Catholic priest was killed, an Anglican clergy member was kidnapped, and a politician from Anambra was just abducted. On December 30, 2024, armed attackers brutally massacred eight individuals in Chigbonu village, Umuike Ubahuekwem, Ihiala. This was the most recent event. Concerns have been raised throughout the state by these acts as well as other ongoing crimes.
The Nigerian Forest Security Service’ s (NFSS) Anambra Commander, Destiny Jonas, provided information about the agency’ s operations and said that it is ready to use its experience to protect forests and their environs for security and economic reasons.
He underlined that the group is used to the terrain and can operate effectively in distant locations and woodlands. In order to assist the state’ s Operation Udo Ga Di Na Anambra Security Initiative, Jonas stated that the NFSS is prepared to collaborate with other security organizations.
The goal of this program is to eradicate the criminal forces that incite violence and fear in the state’ s hinterlands. The NFSS commander emphasized how important it is for the organization to collect intelligence and eliminate threats in the forests.
