BREAKING: Man United chase Gyokeres deal after Amorim demand

Manchester United could make their move for Viktor Gyokeres this month.

The Red Devils have seemingly overtaken Arsenal as the potential most likely next destination for Sporting Lisbon’s prolific Swedish striker after Ruben Amorim left the Estadio Jose Alvalade to succeed Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

A major battle for Gyokeres’ services was thought to be brewing in the summer, but the Daily Star now report that Amorim has demanded that struggling United push for a deal this month instead.

Along with the likes of Arsenal, the Red Devils were expected to be among the major contenders to sign Sporting Lisbon’s prolific Swedish striker in the summer.

However, it seems that former Sporting boss Ruben Amorim cannot wait that long for a reunion and the Daily Star report that he has told United chiefs that he wants the deal done in the January window.

Sporting would apparently want former Coventry star Gyokeres’ £80m release clause paid in full to sell him mid-season, though United have to sell to buy first and reportedly could offload both Marcus Rashford and summer signing Joshua Zirkzee in the weeks ahead.
