Former governor Omehia leads Rivers elders to visit Fubara, advises voters ahead of LG polls

With preparation in place for the Saturday, October 5, Local Government elections in Rivers, a former governor of the state, Celestine Omehia, has urged voters to ensure they exercise their civic right responsibly.

Omehia while also speaking on behalf of the Rivers Political Elders and Leaders Forum described the LG election as an exercise of the fundamental right of people.

The former governor said this when he led members of the forum to a visit to Governor Siminalayi Fubara in Port Harcourt.

Encouraging the governor to remain steadfast and ensure a successful poll, Omehia siad every Rivers State resident has the right to vote.

He said, “Those who do not want the election to hold are not interested in the welfare of Rivers people.

“As a group, we are interested in strengthening democratic principles, we want the state to grow in unity,” he said.

He added that every past leader of Rivers will be glad to see the state enjoy peace, unity and development and that is what the LG election is about.
