BREAKING: Fulanis Have Contributed Hugely To Nigeria’s Development

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has asserted that the Funali community has made a significant contribution to the growth and development of Nigeria and, hence, should not be portrayed negatively.

During a meeting with a delegation from the Kano chapter of Tabital Fulaku International, Governor Yusuf regretted the unfavourable depiction of individuals of Fulani descent throughout the nation, describing it as unjustified.

Represented by his Deputy, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, Governor Yusuf emphasized the state government’s dedication to assisting Tabital Fulaku International in its mission to foster unity among the Fulani community nationwide.

Furthermore, he urged Fulani leaders to remain resolute in mentoring the younger generations, underscoring the significance of their ongoing support and guidance.

Gwarzo also voiced his concerns regarding the negative representation of the Fulani in certain media outlets despite their considerable contributions to the advancement of Nigeria.

“The Fulani community has consistently contributed to Nigeria’s development, producing distinguished political leaders, academics, technocrats, legal experts, and security chiefs. Remarkably, a Fulani man currently holds the position of National Security Adviser,” Gwarzo noted.

He recommended that the leadership of the organization seek assistance from government officials of Fulani descent.

He expressed concern over the unjust representation of the Fulani people, remarking, “It is troubling that certain media outlets damage their reputation. The Fulani have made substantial contributions to agriculture and other vital sectors. They are the herders who support our economy. Such negative representations are undeserved.”

Comrade Gwarzo urged the Federal Government, especially security agencies, to rectify the mischaracterization of the Fulani’s esteemed history and their contributions.

He called upon Fulbe associations throughout Nigeria to come together, put aside their differences, and collaborate to protect the rights and privileges of the Fulani community.

“I advise you to collaborate with stakeholders to preserve and enhance the Fulani’s image,” Gwarzo concluded, emphasizing the need for a more inclusive and respectful media narrative that acknowledges the Fulani’s critical role in Nigeria’s past, present, and future.

The Ardo of Tabital Fulaku International Nigeria, Sanusi Abdullahi Nassarawa, previously articulated that the purpose of their visit was to apprise the government of the association’s initiatives and to request assistance in rehabilitating the national perception of the Fulani community.

He emphasized that their foremost objective is to foster unity, modernize their trade practices, and provide education to their members.

Nassarawa asserted that the Fulani are a peaceful and development-focused group, making significant contributions to the advancement of the nation.
