Founder of World Harvest Ministries, Jikwoyi Bishop Leonard Kawas on Sunday admonished Nigerians to see Wilderness Journey as a training ground for greatness to leadership.
Archbishop Kawas was delivering a sermon with the title “Wilderness experiences“ at a thanksgiving service to mark his 58th birthday anniversary.
Citing Joshua chapter 1:6,7 and 9 which encouraged Christians to be strong and be of good courage, he called on Christian faithful to maintain a Godly attitude whenever they find themselves in any challenging situation and refuse to be discouraged.
He said “Fasting and Prayer is crucial and your pattern of prayer should align to “ God send my destiny helper“
While thanking God for adding another year to his life, the Clergyman admonished Christians to see every challenge as stepping stone to “palace experience”, adding that every wilderness experience has some form of mockery associated with it but they can’t see where you are heading to in life .
“Anyone who has ever mocked you has made the greatest mistake because the wilderness journey is a training ground for great leaders of tomorrow.
“ The God of the day is still God of the night . Everyone of us regardless of our level will still be going through some wilderness experiences but will surely come out” he added
“ The spirit led Jesus Christ into the wilderness because at every point in time everyone who has the spirit of champion must have wilderness experience and that does not mean God has abandoned you. They may see your wilderness journey but will see you at the top
“First I started my ministry in Makurdi and I trekked everyday for Evangelism. I was sleeping in a primary school where I started the ministry. But today, I have laid hands on presidents of Nations.
“The church has suffered too much wilderness experience and the wilderness journey of a church must come to an end. Where you are now is not the final bishop hence you must reject being discouraged.
“ Government policies such as the Tax Reform bill should be considered to serve the interest of Nigerians” he added
The member representing Oju/Obi Federal constituency of Benue State, Hon Ogewu David Again who was one of the guests present at the service described Archbishop Kawas as a man of God full of integrity and worthy of celebration
“ it is good to be good and For me and my family, we have come to celebrate our father , a man worthy of celebrating”
“We need to appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because the tax bill before us will address the multiple taxation in the country. I have studied the bills and we will pass it by the Grace of God.
“Part of the tax bills is saying eat what you produce . You produce more , you eat more. The president mean well for us and by the Grace of God all will be well.
“ We are not rubber stamp. We cannot come out to shout but this year there will be reflection of government budgeting to the down trodden and rural areas”
“ Don’t forget to pray for the land . Pray for the National Assembly so we can function well. Not every one is corrupt in Igede. Don’t give up, the country will be fine”
Meanwhile Highlight of the event was distribution of food items to members and visitors to mark his day.
