In response to the devastating tanker explosion in Dikko, Niger State, an 18-member medical team has been deployed to provide urgent care to the victims.
Following directives from Governor Umaru Bago, the team, led by Dr. Tukur Bello, the Hon. Commissioner for Secondary and Tertiary Healthcare, visited Suleja General Hospital and Shehu Musa Yar’adua Hospital in Sabon-Wuse. A total of 66 victims were admitted for treatment following the tragic incident.
At Suleja General Hospital, 43 patients, all male, were being treated, though seven fatalities were reported. In Sabon-Wuse hospital, 23 patients were admitted, with three confirmed dead shortly after arrival.
Many victims are in critical condition and are expected to be transferred to specialized hospitals in Abuja. The state government has also arranged for free medical services and additional health personnel to support ongoing treatment efforts.
Governor Bago expressed condolences to the families of the victims and ensured that medical supplies were delivered to the hospitals to aid in the recovery process.
