BREAKING: 10 More People Confirmed Dead From Niger Tanker Explosion

The Niger State Government has said that an additional 10 persons have been confirmed dead in the tanker explosion that occurred along Dikko junction in Gurara local government area of the state.

Niger governor’s aide on digital communications, Abdulberqy Ebbo, in a post on his social media accounts said seven of the victims died at the General Hospital, Suleja while three others have been confirmed dead at the General Hospital in Sabon-Wuse.

Ebbo added that out of the 43 victims of the incident were admitted at the Suleja hospital, three have been discharged after satisfaction by the medical team.

He added that 10 other were referred to a specialist care hospital in Abuja with 23 other left in the hospital for treatment of various degree of burns.

Disclosing more details, he said that 23 other patients were admitted at the Sabon-Wuse General Hospital. Out of these 2, three have died while 19 others and their relatives signed consent of discharge against medical advice.

He noted that the General Hospital only has one patient from the explosion who is currently in a critical state and waiting evacuation to Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital.

In addition, Ebbo stated that an 18-man multi-disciplinary medical team are on the ground to provide any needed medical attention to the victims.

Part of the them from the Ministry of Health include the Special Adviser on Health, Dr Shehu Ahmed and the Special Adviser on Special Duties, Dr. Murtala Bagan.

The medical team is being led by the Commissioner of Secondary and Tertiary Healthcare, Dr. Tukur BellI.
