Expressing concern over the crisis, she warned that tensions could have serious repercussions for both Rivers State and national stability.

“The situation in Rivers demands urgent attention, and I implore Mr President to take decisive action to prevent further escalation,” Akpoti-Uduaghan stated.

She emphasized that unchecked conflict could undermine Nigeria’s democratic progress and foster an environment where violence and electoral malpractices become emboldened.

Akpoti-Uduaghan highlighted that the people of Rivers State elected Governor Fubara under the Constitution and should be allowed to govern without interference.

She urged President Tinubu to ensure Wike remains focused on his responsibilities as FCT Minister.

The conflict, according to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s press statement, has been marred by instances of violence, intimidation, and alleged electoral manipulation.

She believes Tinubu’s leadership could play a vital role in quelling the unrest. “We cannot afford to watch as the crisis deepens,” she said, “threatening the stability of the region. President Tinubu’s leadership is crucial in resolving this impasse.”

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan concluded by urging the President to protect the lives and property of Rivers residents and promote peace.

She believes intervention is essential for preventing further destabilisation in Rivers State and safeguarding the country’s democratic values.
