BREAKING: Sanwo-Olu reaffirms commitment to supporting Navy

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Navy and other security agencies in maintaining the safety and prosperity of residents in the state.

Sanwo-Olu made the statement during a courtesy visit by Rear Admiral Michael Oamen, the new Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, at the Lagos State Government House in Ikeja on Monday.

The governor expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts between the state government and security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Navy, in maintaining security in Lagos.

He acknowledged the Navy’s critical role in preventing pipeline vandalism and criminal activities in the state’s waterways.

Sanwo-Olu assured the Navy of the state government’s continued support, highlighting the success of the Lagos Security Trust Fund, which has been instrumental in providing resources for security operations in the state.

Rear Admiral Oamen thanked the state government for its support, especially in providing logistics and operational resources, such as boats, for the Navy. He commended Lagos for being a model in security coordination and pledged the Navy’s continued cooperation with the state government to ensure safety and promote economic activities.

Oamen also briefed the governor on the Navy’s operations in Lagos, including the Joint Task Force Operation Awase, which has successfully reduced pipeline vandalism. He called for assistance in resolving the accommodation challenges faced by Navy personnel.
