Former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has maintained that he remains the legitimate speaker based on constitutional provisions, despite his recent removal by colleagues over allegations of gross misconduct and financial mismanagement.
Obasa made this assertion on Saturday during a welcome event in Ikeja GRA, organized by supporters from Agege, Alimosho, and Kosofe local government areas.
Speaking on the matter, Obasa argued that the process of his removal did not adhere to constitutional guidelines. While acknowledging the decision of his colleagues, he insisted that any such action must follow due process as outlined in the law.
“I was Speaker for 10 years, if I’m no longer wanted, from Allah we come and to him, we shall return but you cannot impeach a speaker with a fake mace.”
