BREAKING: Police arrest suspected cultist ‘Black Jesus’ over assault, destruction of property

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspected cultist, Peter Falola, widely known as ‘Black Jesus,’ for alleged assault, arson, and the destruction of property valued at over N1.4 million in the Agbado area of the state.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, Falola was taken into custody on January 20, following an incident that occurred five days earlier.

On January 15, 2025, at around 9:00 am, Falola reportedly stormed the residence of Oladipupo Adeniran on Ifelodun Street, Ago Ajeri, Agbado. Witnesses allege that he threatened to burn down the house before escalating his attack.

Odutola revealed, “He invaded the suspect’s home, making violent threats. He allegedly stabbed the suspect multiple times after smashing a bottle on his head in a fit of anger.”

During the chaos, Falola allegedly struck Adeniran on the head with an empty beer bottle. As neighbors rushed Adeniran to a nearby hospital for medical attention, the suspect reportedly set fire to the apartment, destroying valuables including a 6kg gas cylinder, a ceiling fan, an Itel Android phone, a set of chairs, and eight aluminum windows. Both the sitting room and bedroom ceilings were also reduced to ruins. The total damage has been estimated at over N1.4 million.

“Falola also allegedly set the victim’s clothes ablaze, destroying items valued at over N1.4 million,” Odutola added.

A report was filed at the Agbado Police Station on January 20, prompting officers to swiftly arrest the suspect. Investigators have since visited the crime scene, and Falola is now being interrogated.

Odutola further stated that the suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Abeokuta, where a thorough investigation into the incident will continue.
