Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface will not be available for selection in Bayer Leverkusen’s Champions League tie on Wednesday.
This was revealed by Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso, who confirmed that the forward is on the verge of leaving the Bundesliga club.
Reports had emerged this week that Boniface was set to join Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr.
In all indications, it appears that Leverkusen and Al Nassr are already in advanced talks regarding the transfer of the Nigerian striker, who is reportedly open to the move.
“There’s a situation, and I understand it. Discussions are ongoing with the club,” Alonso stated ahead of Sparta Prague clash on Wednesday.
“We have to wait, but we’re preparing for the game without Boni, of course.”
Boniface joined Leverkusen in 2023 after leaving Union SG.
The 24-year-old, who recently extended his contract with Leverkusen until 2029, is valued at €50 million by the club.
