The Jigawa State government has approved N9.78 billion for the rehabilitation of 114 primary healthcare facilities across the 27 Local Govt area in the state.
This was made known by the Jigawa Commissioner for Information, Youths, and Sports, Mr. Sagir Musa, on Tuesday, following a meeting of the State Executive Council (SEC).
Musa stated that the approval aligns with the commitment of the Umar Namadi administration to improve access to quality healthcare services and work towards achieving Universal Healthcare Coverage.
The rehabilitation project will be implemented under the World Bank-funded Immunisation Plus and Malaria Progress for Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) Programme.
Also, the SEC approved the formation of a 10-member committee tasked with developing strategies for talent identification to foster creativity and innovation among the state’s youth.
The committee will be chaired by the Commissioner for Higher Education, with members including the commissioners for Health, Environment, Local Government, and Information, as well as technical advisers on ICT, Digital Economy, Higher Education, and Agriculture.
The Director-General of the Youth Empowerment/Employment Agency and the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor will also be members, with the Special Assistant on Technology and Innovation serving as the committee’s secretary.
The committee has been given a two-week deadline to submit its report.
The council also approved the launch of a Special Citizen Engagement Programme, named “Gwamnati da Jamma’a” in Hausa.
