Professor George Chima, the Chairman of the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, has been abducted by armed assailants.
Sources close to the family reveal that Chima was taken from his Okigwe residence in Imo State on Friday evening, where he was host to a gathering of lecturers from Abia State University, Uturu.
The incident has been confirmed by DSP Henry Okoye, spokesperson for the State Police Command, who stated that the Commissioner of Police has launched an urgent operation to secure the victim’s safe return.
