EXCLUSIVE: Eric Chelle Breaks Silence on Super Eagles Job

A team member has told SCORENigeria that it was a very emotional coach Eric Chelle, who addressed the Super Eagles at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco as it concerns his future with the team.

Eric Chelle signed a two-year contract with the NFF in January 2025 with an option for a further year.

He was tasked by the NFF to lead the Super Eagles to the final of the 2025 AFCON, but even though the team only got to the semifinal, there has been a massive support for him to continue as coach of the team after they played some good attacking football in Morocco.

“The coach was very emotional when he addressed the team after the quarterfinal win over Algeria. He didn’t cry, but he was deeply moved. He told us that he has yet to be contacted by the NFF and so anything is possible as regards his future,” the team member told only SCORENigeria

“Really he enjoys the support of the team and has made us one big, happy family.

“But we also know that several other countries are interested in working with him with some of them offering him much more money than what he gets in Nigeria.”

Eric Chelle has said he wishes to continue as Super Eagles coach.

However, NFF president Ibrahim Gusau while praising the work of the former Mali coach, maintained that contract talks with him would have to wait as he is only halfway through the agreement he signed with the federation.

Some NFF executives are said to be unhappy with the coach after he refused to work with players they tried to impose on him.
