350 rounds of ammo were found on a 54-year-old lady.

A 54-year-old woman, Hamsatu Modu has been arrested by the Police in Yobe State for being in possession of 350 rounds of ammunition.

Modu, the police said was arrested enroute Damaturu, Yobe State capital city following intelligence report.

The spokesperson for the Yobe Police Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, said that Modu, a native of Konduga LGA of Borno State was arrested by the police operatives ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Damaturu.

According to Abdulkarim, the police command received credible intelligence regarding a suspected gunrunner en route to Damaturu.

He said the intercepted the car which she was traveling in, a Golf 3 Saloon car.

A thorough search of the vehicle showed 350 rounds of live 7.62×39 MM ammunition concealed in the Modu’s luggage.

He said, “The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation as investigators work to unravel the criminal network and motives behind the trafficking.

Abdulkarim further stated that the Yobe State commissioner of police, Garba Ahmed has restated the command’s commitment to combating crime and urged community members to sustain their cooperation security operatives and agencies to sanitise the state.
