BREAKING: Pandemonium as Policeman’s accidental kills on in Abuja community

A tragic incident in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has left one person dead and a supermarket razed after a policeman’s accidental discharge.

However, normalcy has since returned following the unrest.

According to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the incident occurred around 7 p.m. near the Tipper Garage area after an argument between two men who had just exited a supermarket.

An eyewitness, Mr. Bulus Ayuba, recounted that the supermarket’s security officer, a policeman, tried to intervene when the argument escalated and attracted a crowd. In an attempt to disperse the growing gathering, the officer fired a warning shot into the air.

“Unfortunately, someone in the crowd touched the gun, causing the officer to misfire and shoot a person in the head,” Ayuba explained.

Following the shooting, another witness, Mr. Philip Adeyeye, said enraged youths took to the streets in protest, setting fire to a vehicle parked at the supermarket. The situation was eventually brought under control after military personnel and additional police officers were deployed.

Reacting to the incident, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olatunji Disu, confirmed that the officer responsible is in custody, and investigations are ongoing.
