The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to stamping out human trafficking and organized crime, following significant breakthroughs in Kaduna and Ogun States that led to the arrest of three suspects, the rescue of 16 victims, and the neutralization of five kidnappers.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, noted that the operation aligns with the IGP’s 2025 action plan aimed at strengthening security nationwide.
ACP Adejobi revealed that operatives of Kaduna State Command, on January 31, intercepted and apprehended three suspected traffickers—Samson Peter (25), Haruna Duniya (45), and Abdulazaq Olawole (58)—while they attempted to traffic 13 victims to Oyo State in an unmarked vehicle. The victims were successfully rescued, and investigations are ongoing.
He added that, on January 29, operatives of the Ogun State Command, acting on intelligence, raided a kidnappers’ hideout linked to an abduction reported on January 25.
In the ensuing gun battle, Adejobi disclosed that five kidnappers were neutralised, leading to the safe rescue of three victims. Security personnel also recovered arms and ammunition, three mobile phones, N5.2 million in cash, and the victims’ vehicles.
Commending the operatives for their professionalism and swift response, IGP Egbetokun urged officers across the country to remain steadfast in their duty to protect lives and property.
He reassured Nigerians of the Force’s unwavering resolve to dismantle criminal networks and restore public confidence in law enforcement.
