The member representing Enugu East Senatorial zone, Senator Kelvin Chukwu has dismissed as “false,” a letter in circulation suggesting that he has resigned from the Labour Party to join Zenith Labour Party.
In a statement signed by his Chief of Staff, Eneh Victor, the senator said the report “is a deliberate act of misinformation aimed at misleading the public and causing unnecessary confusion.
“This letter is fake in its entirety.”
Eneh added that the letter in circulation “did not meet the standard of what can emanate from the stable of Senator Kelvin Chukwu. It is a handiwork of mischief makers and enemies of the senator who are threatened by his towering posture and audacious performance.
“We categorically deny the authenticity of this letter and affirm that Senator Kelvin Chukwu remains a committed and active member of the Labour Party. This is yet another example of desperate political propaganda intended to undermine his position and create discord within the party.
“While we urge the general public to disregard the malicious letter, it’s important we inform the great people of Enugu East Senatorial Zone that, those who murdered Barrister Oyibo Chukwu, the elder brother to Senator Kelvin Chukwu are still not tired. They have mobilised their Media Agents to tarnish the image of the Senator.”
Eneh noted that this isn’t the first time Senator Chukwu is coming under media attacks.
“Recall that, on November 17, 2024 while the Senator was at University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC) Stadium, giving out empowerment items to the people of Enugu East Senatorial Zone, these same people issued a fake statement purporting that the Labour Party, Amurri Ward had suspended the Senator from the party.
“Incidentally, the person whose name was used to author the suspension letter was at the UNEC Stadium with members of Labour party, Amurri ward and has come out to deny it.
“It is disheartening how someone will forge the letter headed paper and the signature of a serving Distinguished Senator and had the temerity to circulate same.
“In the immediate, our preliminary investigations points at one Onyema Edeh from Isi-Uzo Local Government Area as the originator of this fake resignation letter.
“He is the first to share this fake letter in Isi-Uzo WhatsApp platforms from where it began to circulate.
“The office of the Senator has promptly petitioned the relevant security agencies to do thorough investigation and bring to book the culprits immediately.
“We are worried that those behind this fake letter may have been faking the letter headed paper and signature of the Most Distinguished Senator and using same to defraud the unsuspecting public.
“The office of Senator Kelvin Chukwu therefore urge members of the Labour Party, his supporters, and the good people of Enugu East Senatorial Zone to remain calm while the security agencies do the needful to fish out those behind it for prosecution.”
