BREAKING: Gunmen abduct travelers in Ondo, demand ransom

Gunmen have struck along the Owo-Ipele-Benin Highway in Ondo State, as they ambushed and abducted a group of travellers

According to sources, the travellers were returning from a South-South state and heading to Akure, the Ondo State capital, when the gunmen struck.

The state police spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the incident, stating that seven persons were kidnapped by the assailants. However, other reports suggest that the number of abducted travellers may be higher, with estimates ranging from 10 to 15 people.

The discrepancy in the number of victims has added to the confusion and concern surrounding the incident.

Odunlami assured the public that further details would be provided as investigations continue, adding that the police have launched a probe into the incident and are working to identify the perpetrators and rescue the abducted travellers.

In a disturbing turn of events, the kidnappers have reportedly contacted the families of the victims and are demanding ransom for their release.

This incident is the latest in a series of kidnappings and abductions that have plagued Ondo State in recent months, leaving residents and travellers alike on edge.
