The Abia State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has extended its congratulations to Senator Austin Akobundu, who represents the Abia Central Senatorial District, on his appointment as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Air Force.
In a letter signed by its Chairman, Elder Abraham Amah, on behalf of the party’s leaders, stakeholders, and members in Abia State, Senator Akobundu was hailed as “a seasoned statesman, accomplished legislator, and retired military officer whose service to our nation has been exemplary.”
The party further stated, “Having previously served as Minister of State for Defence, he brings with him a wealth of experience that will undoubtedly enhance the Nigerian Senate’s engagement with the Air Force and the broader military establishment.
“In a time when national security is of paramount importance, we are confident that his leadership will significantly contribute to formulating policies and initiatives that will strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigerian Air Force and bolster the nation’s defence framework.
“His appointment not only recognises his commitment to national service but also stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication to the progress and security of Nigeria.
“We at Abia PDP take immense pride in Senator Akobundu’s achievements and are assured that he will continue to excel in this new role. We wish him success, wisdom, and strength as he endeavours to advance the interests of the Air Force, the Senate, and the entire Nigerian military,” the message concluded.
It is worth noting that Senator Austin Akobundu was officially announced as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Air Force by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during the Senate plenary on Tuesday, 4th February 2025.
