BREAKING: Abdulrazaq, 2 Others Confirmed As New INEC Electoral Commissioners

Tukur Abdulrazaq, Sunday Aja and Saseyib Ibeyemi have been confirmed as the three new Resident Electoral Commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

While Abdulrazaq represents the North West, Aja will be representing the South East and Ibeyemi, Ondo State.

The appointment of the three RECs was approved by members of the Nigerian Senate on Thursday, February 6.

Their appointment follows a nomination by President Bola Timubu; a presentation and adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters at plenary.

Presenting the report of the committee, for consideration, its Chairman, Alli Sharafadeen described the nominees as seasoned electoral managers.

He also said that the new RECs were found worthy of the appointments especially following the fact that no petition was found against them.

Presiding over the plenary for their confirmation, Senator Jibrin Barau commended the committee for its input in the confirmation process.

He further urged newly confirmed RECs to ensure they stay alive to their responsibilities and discharge their duties in accordance with the law.
