BREAKING: Police rescues Edo traditional ruler after 4 days in captivity

Police operatives in Edo have rescued the Onogie of Udo-Eguare, a traditional ruler in Edo Central.

The traditional ruler was kidnapped by a group of gunmen on February 3.

The spokesman for the state police command, Moses Yamu, said in a statement on Saturday in Benin that the rescue operation was carried out in collaboration with vigilantes and hunters at about 6:00 p.m., on Friday.

“The Command thanked the Edo State Government for ensuring the success of the rescue operation.

“The Command equally appreciates the vigilantes, hunters, and other well-meaning residents of the State for their support so far.

“The general public is assured that the Command’s commitment to the fight against crime remains unshaken.”
