BREAKING: Lagos Government announces closure of roads

The Lagos State Government will shut down several roads for eight hours on Saturday, February 15, 2025, for the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.

The marathon will begin at 5:00 a.m. and end at 1:00 p.m.

According to the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the race will start at the National Stadium in Surulere and follow a designated route through major roads, including Ikorodu Road, the Third Mainland Bridge, Dolphin Road, Alfred Rewane Road, and Admiralty Way, before finishing at Eko Atlantic.

To secure the race path, concrete barriers will be placed at junctions and intersections. Officers from LASTMA, NPF, FRSC, LSNC, and LAWMA will be deployed to manage traffic.

The government has provided alternative routes for motorists traveling from different parts of Lagos, including Ikeja, Badagry, Surulere, Sango-Otta, and the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The Third Mainland Bridge will remain open for those heading to the Mainland but closed for vehicles going toward Lagos Island.

Osiyemi urged residents to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes to avoid disruptions.

Traffic officers will be available to assist road users throughout the event.
