Former President Donald Trump is projected to win the presidency for a second time, reclaiming the White House nearly four years after leaving Washington, D.C. in a dramatic manner.
According to major U.S. media, including Fox News, Trump will secure the electoral votes needed for victory.
The key turning points came with projected wins in Pennsylvania and Alaska, bringing Trump to exactly 270 electoral votes, the minimum needed to claim the presidency.
With this development, Trump will be the first president in over 120 years to lose the White House and then win it back. The last president to achieve this was Grover Cleveland, who returned to office in 1892.
In the 2024 polls, Trump, a Republican, faced off against Vice President Kamala Harris (Democrat) after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race.
Prior to the election, polls in seven critical states showed a tight race, with little distance between Trump and Harris until the final days.
Ultimately, Trump secured a decisive victory by winning back Georgia, holding on to North Carolina, and breaking through the Democrats’ “blue wall” of states.
The 78-year-old US leader has outlined several key goals for his second term. These include conducting a large-scale deportation effort, extending the tax cuts he implemented in 2017, placing tariffs on all imports, and reducing protections for transgender youth.
