A socio-political group, the Collective Movement (TCM), is urging former presidential candidate Peter Obi to make a decision toward merging with other opposition parties in preparation for the 2027 elections.

The group argues that announcing a merger now would give Nigerians a clear choice in the coming election and help create a unified front to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement released on Wednesday, TCM founder Franklin Ekechukwu said the time has come for opposition parties to solidify their identities and start working together. “We don’t have time for delays. If this merger is to succeed, we need to establish a clear, united front right away,” he said.

According to Ekechukwu, an early identification of the merging parties would promote a sense of unity among their leaders and supporters, giving them a greater chance to connect with voters.

Ekechukwu explained that forming a coalition now would create a solid alternative to the APC and help foster public awareness about the new alliance. “This is about building credibility, recognition, and a unified vision,” he said. “When we introduce this coalition to the public, we’ll not only attract supporters but also inspire confidence that this new alliance stands for a better future.”

According to Ekechukwu, bringing together respected figures like Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would show voters that the coalition is serious about change.

He further encouraged Obi to consider joining forces with Atiku, whom he described as a “national figure” capable of uniting Nigerians across all backgrounds.
