Civil society leader and former executive director of Enough is Enough (EiE), Yemi Adamolekun, has rejected membership of the African Democratic Congress’ (ADC) newly constituted Wise Men and Women Policy and Manifesto Committee.
Naija News reports that the ADC on Wednesday unveiled a 50-member policy and manifesto committee, following approval by its National Working Committee and the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark.
The Policy and Manifesto Committee brings together a distinguished group of Nigerians from diverse backgrounds, including former public officeholders, academics, technocrats, policy experts, civil society leaders, and professionals.
Collectively, they represent a wealth of experience in governance, economic management, social development, security, and democratic reform.
The committee will be chaired by former Edo State Governor, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, with Professor Pat Utomi as Deputy Chairman, and Salihu Lukman as Secretary.
According to the party, the committee is tasked with articulating a clear, coherent, and credible policy direction that reflects Nigerians’ aspirations and positions the ADC as a serious alternative platform for responsible leadership and national renewal.
Reacting to the appointment, Adamolekun, in a post shared on , questioned the inclusion of her name without their consent.
The activist stated that such action is not a way to build credibility, adding that she is not a member of the ADC.
Sharing a copy of the list, she wrote, “ADC! ADC!! ADC!!! How many times did I call you? This is not how to build credibility o!!! Please show me evidence of when I joined your party!! Na wa…”
Responding to the complaint, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said membership of the committee was not restricted to party members or politicians.
He said, “It is important to point out that not everyone on the ADC Policy and Manifesto Committee is a member of the ADC. Many are not even politicians.
“This is because the ADC believes that the task of developing workable public policies for the benefit of all Nigerians should not be left to politicians alone.
“During our vetting process, we took all necessary measures to ensure that everyone recommended to serve on this important committee was duly notified and had given their consent.
“We hope that Ms. Adamolekun will agree to serve on this committee because of her vast experience, even though she is not a member of our party.”
