On Tuesday, the residents of Ita-Eku, Igirigiri Road, Odo-Ado, Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, were thrown into mourning after a couple killed each other during a fight at their house.
It was gathered that the lifeless bodies of the couple, a police officer and his wife, were full of marks and cuts.
A source close to the neighbourhood said, “The husband, known as Caleb, was an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), and his wife, known as Tate, were married with children.
“The gory fight ensued after the wife accused the husband of engaging in extramarital affairs, a battle that has lingered between them for some time.
“In the heat of the disagreement, the wife attacked the man with a knife and cut off his manhood.
“In retaliation, the officer, while in his own pool of blood, reached for a cutlass and attacked the wife, macheting her to death.
“They bled profusely and died. Their corpses have been deposited in the morgue at a hospital.”
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incident, said the law enforcement agency had begun an investigation into the matter.
“It is confirmed, and an investigation has begun to determine the actual cause of their death. We are still investigating the incident. Meanwhile, their corpses have been deposited in the morgue.”
